This Privacy Policy explains how YellowDown ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit yellowdown.com and use our online tools, including the Snapchat video downloader (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask for your Snapchat login.
- We don't store the links you paste or the videos you download.
- To fetch a video, the link you paste is sent to a third-party processing service.
- Like almost every website, our hosting keeps basic technical logs, and we may use analytics cookies.
1. Information we collect
Links you submit
When you paste a Snapchat link and press Download, the link is sent to our server so we can find the public video file. We use it only to complete that request. We do not save it in a database or link it to you.
Technical information
Our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, the date and time of the request, and the referring website. These logs are used for security, preventing abuse and keeping the Service running, and are kept only as long as the hosting provider's normal retention period.
Analytics and cookies
We may use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular and which devices people use. These tools may set cookies and collect information such as your approximate location, device and browser details, and pages viewed. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, phone number, Snapchat username or password. We do not have user accounts. We cannot see your private snaps, chats or friends-only Stories, and the Service only works with public content.
3. How the downloader processes a request
When you submit a link, our server sends it to a third-party media-processing API (provided through RapidAPI) that returns the location of the public video file. When you press Download, the video is streamed from Snapchat's servers through our server to your device. The video is passed through in real time and is not saved on our server.
4. How we use information
- To provide the Service and complete your download requests.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam, abuse and automated misuse.
- To understand usage and improve the site's speed, content and features.
- To respond to messages, copyright notices and legal requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Third parties
We rely on a small number of service providers to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Hosting provider (Hostinger), which stores the website and its server logs.
- Media-processing API (via RapidAPI), which receives the links you submit in order to locate the video.
- Google (Tag Manager and Analytics), if enabled, for site statistics.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Cookies
Our own pages do not need cookies to work. Analytics tools may set cookies to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The downloader will still work if you block cookies.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. This includes rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, for visitors in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR. Because we don't keep accounts or save submitted links, we usually hold very little information that can be linked to you. To make a request, email us at the address below.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption, and we take reasonable steps to protect our server. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
